8.6 - Closing the external face

Page 146

Carefully lower the top liner into place. Align the pins to hold the liner in position

and place weights securely over the areas being glued. Wipe off any excess adhesive for

future lamination.

8.6

Closing the outer face

Prepare outer surfaces for final closing glue. Roughen and clean all glue areas,

remember to make a small radius with a MICRO paste on the corners. Apply 3 coats of

BID to all outer surfaces of ribs and spar with complete overlap of all edges of aileron

coating.

Locate the hinge areas and add 6 layers of BID 3 inches wide by 12 inches long in

the two hinge areas per aileron. Fold at least 1 inch over the surface of the spar to this

length. When layers are cured, remove burrs with a knife.
