Installing SmartPass®
period is fixed at 0 ms, which means that the circuit closes instantly when a vehicle
is present.
Input1 is available as a general-purpose input circuit.
Note:
The Wiegand interface does not support input1.
RF Control
The RF power output circuit can be controlled by any of the following:
•
A vehicle detector, using one of the two input circuits
•
Software, using commands sent to SmartPass by the host
•
Twisting the input0 wire pair together
As a factory default, SmartPass is configured to control the RF power output circuit
by a vehicle detector. The vehicle detector can be a loop detector, infrared sensor, or
ultrasonic detector that is connected to the input0 to turn on the SmartPass RF
transmitter. Figure 5-8, Option A, shows a vehicle detector controlling the RF
transmitter. This operation is preferred because the RF transmits only when a vehicle
is in the SmartPass read zone.
If the vehicle detector is connected to the host computer as shown in Figure 5-8,
Option B, commands 6400 and 6401 from the host control the SmartPass RF
transmitter. Command 6400 turns the RF transmitter off, and command 6401 turns
the RF transmitter on.
Note:
For information and instructions on executing software commands, refer to
Chapter 9, “Commands.”
You can turn on the SmartPass RF transmitter all the time by twisting the input0 wire
pair conductors together as shown in Figure 5-8, Test Configuration. SmartPass will
then transmit continuously.
To return the SmartPass RF control to the external vehicle detector, use command
6401, which selects the RF-by-sensor control.
