Note: You should determine the read zone before you tighten all screws. Refer to
“Marking the Read Zone” later in this chapter. You can adjust SmartPass
while determining the read zone. After you have defined the read zone,
tighten all screws and straps.
Installing SmartPass on a Flat Surface Using the Accessory
Bracket
If you need additional flexibility in aiming SmartPass to determine your read zone,
TransCore recommends the accessory bracket kit, Part No. 54-1600-001. The
accessory bracket allows up, down, left, and right adjustment. Figure 5-4 shows the
accessory bracket

The accessory bracket kit includes the following items:
• One bracket, shown in Figure 5-4
• Four machine screws
• Four washers
To install SmartPass using the accessory bracket kit
1. Unpack SmartPass. A factory-mounted bracket is attached to the back of
SmartPass. A pole-mount bracket is packaged separately in the SmartPass
shipping carton. These two brackets allow for adjusting SmartPass up and
down.
