3 General description

3.3 Contraindications
Do not use the MIRUS System
•
on patients whose ventilation requires an inspiratory tidal volume of less than
200 mL,
•
on patients for whom the use of volatile anaesthetics is contraindicated,
•
on entirely spontaneously breathing patients without a ventilator equipped with a
safety respiration mode (apnoea back-up),
•
with jet or high-frequency ventilators,
• with non-invasive ventilation systems, such as a face mask or helmet,
• with additional filters (HMEF),
• with active humidification systems,
• during low-flow anaesthesia procedures,
• parallel to VA-permeable extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or VA-
permeable extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal (ECCO2R).
3.4 Facility requirements
The MIRUS Controller is intended for stationary use in hospitals and rooms used for medical
purposes.
WARNING Risk of fire
Only operate the MIRUS Controller in areas with an oxygen
concentration below 25% v/v.
Do not operate the MIRUS Controller in areas where combustible or
explosive gas mixtures could occur.
Do not operate the MIRUS Controller in the presence of flammable
anaesthetics.
Do not cover the MIRUS Controller during operation.
WARNING Potential patient hazard due to device malfunction resulting from
inadequate power supply
Do not use the MIRUS Controller for transportation within the
hospital.
Do not use the MIRUS Controller in emergency vehicles or
ambulances.
Do not use the MIRUS Controller in helicopters or aeroplanes.
Do not use the MIRUS Controller in hyperbaric chambers.
