Anaesthesia devices
If the MIRUS Controller is used together with an anaesthesia device for low-flow anaesthesia,
this may result in the generation of heat and humidity in the rebreathing system due to the CO
2
absorption process. If there is an increase in the airway resistance, this may pose a risk to the
patient.
The fresh gas flow of the anaesthesia device must not be set to the minimum flow level
(fresh gas flow > 1.5 x MV).
If the MIRUS Controller is used with an anaesthesia device that is not connected to an
anaesthetic gas scavenging system as per EN ISO 80601-2-13, this may pose a hazard to
persons.
Use the MIRUS Controller with an anaesthesia device that is connected to an
anaesthetic gas scavenging system as per EN ISO 80601-2-13.
If the MIRUS Controller is used with a ventilator that is not connected to an anaesthetic gas
scavenging or disposal system, this may pose a hazard to persons.
Use the MIRUS Controller with a ventilator that is connected to an anaesthetic gas
scavenging or disposal system.
Triggering of the ventilator
The MIRUS Filter and the MIRUS Reflector are integrated in the patient’s ventilation tube
system and thereby enlarge the airway resistance. If the trigger values for the ventilation
system are not adjusted, this may result in unintended or insufficient triggering, thus putting
the patient at risk.
If needed, adjust the trigger values for the ventilator in order to enable adequate
triggering.
Inspiratory tidal volume
When combined as a MIRUS Exchanger, the MIRUS Filter and MIRUS Reflector have a total
dead space of approx. 100 mL. An inspiratory tidal volume of < 300 mL may, depending on
the additional functional dead space, cause a rebreathing of CO
2
and thus pose a risk to the
patient.
Preferably, ventilate the patient with an inspiratory tidal volume > 300 mL.
Do not use additional airway components that significantly enlarge the dead space.
If the MIRUS Controller is used for a patient whose ventilation requires an inspiratory tidal
volume of between 200 and 300 mL, this may result in a hazard to the patient due to the
rebreathing of CO
2
.
Monitor the patient’s
etCO
