3. Adjust the

Fiber Alignment

. Align the fiber tip with the needle tip as indicated in the

figure of the handheld controller, or the virtual handheld controller. Turn the fiber
downwards until it is clearly visible. Turn it back at the same level as the needle tip, then
save this value. See

Figure 148.

SPME Fiber Alignment

4. Adjust the

Standby Position

. Bring back the fiber by at least 2 mm into the needle

(protection sheet), so the fiber does not touch the septum when penetrating through.
The fiber could stick to the septum and be damaged or even lost. See
