Printer memory is used for temporarily storing a print job
until it is processed. The more memory installed in the
printer, the more efficiently it can process print jobs.
The Xpress T9412i model printer comes with 4MB of
memory, and can be upgraded to 68MB using 60ns, or faster,
72-pin standard EDO type DRAM SIMMs.
The Xpress T9412n model printer comes with 16MB of
memory, and can be upgraded to 80MB using 60ns, or faster,
72-pin standard EDO type DRAM SIMMs.
In either model printer you can use a 64MB SIMM in the
printer’s expansion slot
(A) .
The 12MB of memory that comes with your printer is in the
form of 16MB built into the Controller Board and 8MB
installed in the SIMM slots.
To install a SIMM:
1. Remove the Controller Board Cover and access the
printer controller board as described on Page 65.
2. Position the printer so you have access to the controller
board.
3. Figure (A) shows the Controller Board and the location of
expansion slot used for printer memory.
4. Align the SDRAM SIMM over the upper slot so that the
notch is at the bottom and insert at a 45 degree angle
(B) .
5. Rotate the SIMM upward until it snaps into position (C) .
6. Make sure that the SIMM is secured in place by the metal
clips and pins on both sides of the connectors
(D) .
7. Replace the Controller Board Cover as described on page
65.
8. If your computer is running Windows 95, 98, Me, or
NT 4.0, adjust the printer driver properties so the new
printer memory size is recognized. Typically, the
adjustment is made in the Device Options tab.
9. Confirm the installation by printing a printer
Configuration Sheet. From the Ready state, press and
hold the Go/Continue button for 4 seconds.
