7 Elastography Imaging

Basic User Manual
−
Ensure the compression is applied perpendicularly, and all parts of the target tissue are compressed
uniformly.
−
Ensure the compression is a dynamic intermittent force, i.e. alternate tension with relaxation, which could
keep the distorted tissue back to normal status. If the distorted tissue is not relaxed, the tissue cannot be
distorted and the elastography imaging cannot be performed.
−
The compressing frequency is recommended to be 1.5-3 times per second. Lift the probe up after each
pressure, and ensure the probe is not away from the target tissue.
−
The absolute value of positive and negative maximums on strain curves should be 0.5-1. If the absolute
value is below 0.5 or over 1, the compression is too hard or too low for incorrect elastography results.
5. Adjust the elastography ROI.
To acquire accurate tissue stiffness information, you are recommended to adjust the elastography ROI to two
times as the target tissue
−
Move the trackball to position elastography ROI.
−
Select the
Set
key on the control panel to adjust the size of elastography ROI.
−
Select the
Set
key to reposition elastography ROI.
6. Optimize the elastography image. For details, refer to Section 7.2 Optimizing Elastography Images.
7. Select the
Elastic
key again to exit.

Optimizing Elastography Images
After entering the elastography imaging, the imaging parameters display at the bottom of the LCD monitor, you
can use them to optimize elastography images.
You can also adjust the parameters on the pop-up menu by selecting the
Menu
key.
NOTE:
All parameters can only be adjusted in real-time elastography imaging.
721
Strain Map
Strains map allows you to select and apply a color map to the elastography or B-mode image on the left or right
during the elastography imaging. The image will be displayed with the use of 256-color mapping for each pixel
according to the degree of strain using a scale from red (highest strain, softest), green (average strain, intermediate),
to blue (no strain, hardest).
To adjust the strain map:
1. Select the
Menu
key in the real time scan. A menu pops up on the screen.
2. Select
Strain Map L
or
Strain Map R
by using the trackball or the ↑ or ↓ key.
3. Rotate the
Menu
key or select the ← or → key to choose the color scheme for the B-mode image.
722
Strain Process
Strain process is used to set relative parameters of the elastography algorithm, the elastography image varies with
this setting.
To adjust the strain process:
1. Select the
Menu
key in the real time scan. A menu pops up on the screen.
2. Select
Strain Proce.
by using the trackball or the ↑ or ↓ key.
3. Rotate the
Menu
key or select the ← or → key to adjust the value.
