Check operation correctness of the fire protection warning lights, of the engines according to
operation manual of the helicopter;
(d)
Check the valves position in the air-bleed system; the valves should be closed;
(e)
Switch on the power supply for the control-measuring instruments of the engines and main
gearbox;
(f)
Switch on the power supply of the electronic limiter unit of the started engine; the GOV MAX light
shall switch on;
(g)
Release the brake of main rotor;
(h)
Set the START-MOTOR-MOTOR WET switch to the START position;
(i)
Set the ENGINES START switch to the RIGHT or LEFT position depending on which engine is to
be started;
(j)
Switch on the fuel delivery pumps;
(k)
Open the shut-off valve of the fuel installation system;
(I)
Set the CL of the engine started to the alpha CL = 50° ÷ 60° position;
WARNING:
BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE, SIGNAL THE AIRPORT PERSONEL THE
START BEGINNING.
NOTE:
Start of the "cold" engine at ambient temperature 278 K (+5°C; 41 °F) and below shall be
performed after switching on the air-bleed outlet to the icing protection system and for
aircraft use. After switching on the engine, switch-off unnecessary air bleeds.
(m)
Press the START push button for 2 ÷ 3s, then the start box warning light "START ON".
The engine goes automatically to the Gl range during 40s max. Immediately after starting the
engine, set the CL to the GROUND IDLE position (alpha CL = 25° ÷ 40°).
(2)
During engine start, check:
(a)
Power supply voltage which shall be not less than 20V while the electric motor starter is switching
on;
(b)
Compressor turbine speed and main rotor speed, which shall rise smoothly until value
corresponding Gl range is reached;
