DRAINING VALVE AND DRAIN CONTAINER - INSPECTION AND CHECK
1. Checking the draining valve for proper operation
A. To check the combustion chamber draining valve for proper functioning accomplish as follows:
(1)
Dram the fuel from the helicopter drain container (refer to a helicopter maintenance manual).
(2)
Having the draining valve of the helicopter drain container opened, accomplish the engine start.
During the engine starting, check whether the combustion chamber draining valve become
closed before the engine reach the Ground Idle range. The draining valve closed condition is
indicated by ceasing of the air flow from the helicopter container pipe
To facilitate the checking, put one of the side of an elastic hose (P.V.C. or rubber) onto the
container pipe and place the other side of a hose into the container with water. The visible bubbles
allow to examine the closure of the draining valve and the valve tightness.
At the Ground Idle conditions the draining valve should be closed and tight. Insignificant leak
from
the draining valve (1 to 2 bubbles per second) is allowed.
If at Ground Idle conditions the draining valve is opened or not tight - replace the valve (refer to
DRAINING VALVE AND DRAIN CONTAINER - REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION).
