(b) as the additional inspections of 3-d to 6-th stage compressor rotor blades and centrifugal stage
inducer blades which are performed in the case of engine's parameters change (increase of
vibration, deterioration of engine performance).
(2)
In order to inspect, make the following operations:
(a)
install a crank in the same manner as for compressor rotation check (see item 1.).
(b)
unsecure locking wire and loosen protective covers from the openings (in one half of compressor
middle case) assigned for inspection of compressor blades.
(c)
remove protective cover together with washer from one of the openings and insert inspection
terminal (probe) of endoscope into blades area. Cranking compressor rotor and moving
inspection , - terminal along blade's height inspect the blade. Inspect all blades of given stage
(number of blades on specific stages - see DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION).
When inspection is made, remove the endoscope's terminal (probe) from the opening and hand-
screw the protective cover together with washer. Inspect the next stage of compressor rotor
blades.
NOTE:
Through the first inspection opening (counting from engine's front) you can inspect
first stage rotor blades from leading edge's side; through the second operating - 1 st.
stage rotor blades from tailing edge's side and 2-nd stage rotor blades from leading
edge's side, etc. Through the last (seventh - on the cone part of compressor middle
case) inspection opening you can inspect 6-th stage rotor blades from trailing edge's
side and centrifugal stage inducer blades from leading edge's side.
(d)
when the inspection of particular (each) stage blades is finished, screw the protective covers into
inspection opening using a wrench and then secure them by wire.
(e)
remove the crank and screw the protective cover into engine front case in the same manner as
during compressor rotation check (see item 1).
NOTES:
1.
In the case when damages of l-st and ll-nd stage rotor blade are found evaluate
the possibility of their acceptance to further operation, taking into consideration
the criteria and requirements listed in item 2.A. and item 2.C.
If the type of used endoscope does not allow to establish the sizes of damages,
inspect the blades through compressor air inlet duct (see para. 2.C.) and
ewaluate if they are permitted according to specified criteria of item 2.C)
