Continuous ignition during flight.
Frequent use of the continuous ignition may cause the early deterioration of the hot section flow
path parts (especially the outer flame tube and the ignition units) and premature retirement or
repair of the parts. Thus, after each 600 cycles of operation of the contiuous ignition (for operating
instructions, refer to Section 80-02-00, STARTING SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT / TESTS, item 1A)
the following additional inspections apply:
(1)
Inspection of the combustion chamber (refer to Section 72-42-00 COMBUSTION CHAMBER
- INSPECTION AND CHECK, item 1).
NOTE:
Accomplish this inspection in case of the following:
1.
If the continuous ignition is expected to be in use and the time accumulated from the
previous combustion chamber inspection is 1 00 hrs or more.

2.
Immediately after termination of the season (time) of operation when the continuous
ignition was used and the next inspection of the combustion chamber follows beyond
100 hrs of engine operation.
(2)
Inspection of the ignition unit (refer to Section 80-02-00 STARTING SYSTEM - INSPECTION
AND CHECK, item 2).
(3)
Inspection of ingition plug for spark formation (refer to Section 80-02-00 STARTING
SYSTEM - INSPECTION AND CHECK, item 1).
(4)
Inspection and replacement of the starting fuel sprayer and the filter in the ignition unit
(refer to Section 80-02-00 STARTING SYSTEM - REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, item 5).
6.
Maintenance during the Storage.
This kind of the maintenance is executed when the engine is warehoused as follows:
A.
Packed in the transportation case of the manufacturer.
B.
Installed on the helicopter.
The maintenance during the engine storage are presented in Section 72-02-00, ENGINE / SERVICING.
