Operational overview
This chapter explains how to operate ID-4000 for
Windows. “Operation” refers to procedures used for
entering, retrieving and editing text data, capturing
portraits and other images, printing badges, and viewing
text records and portraits.
Other procedures, such as maintaining databases,
managing the system security, calibrating components
and batch processing, are called “administration” and
are described in Chapter 5.
Note: ID-4000 for Windows is available in a variety of
different “application templates” as described in Chapter
2. Some application templates may not have all the
capabilities described in this chapter.
Typical operational
sequences
The ID-4000 permits considerable flexibility in the
sequence of capturing text data, portraits and other
images, printing badges and verifying data and images.
No matter how the sequences are organized, however,
the major functions used in these operations are as
follows:
•
Creating, retrieving, editing and viewing text records
•
Capturing and viewing portraits and other images
