Database management
Database management
overview
Each ID-4000 database is made up of images and text
records. A text record in turn is made up of fields —
discrete data items such as name, street address,
employee ID number, etc.
Several administrative functions help you maintain the
database as a whole. You can:
•
Import text data from other sources (such as text files or
other databases) into the ID-4000 database
•
Import complete text records and images (portraits,
signatures, etc.) exported from other ID-4000 stations
•
Export text data from the ID-4000 to text files that can
then be used in other applications
•
Export complete text records and images for use by
other ID-4000 stations
•
Batch-delete records from an ID-4000 database
•
Pack and reindex databases (necessary for some ID-4000
stations)
•
Edit database log-in data
Importing text data
Use the following procedure to import text data from
other applications such as word processing or database
programs for use in the ID-4000. This text-import
function allows you to select fields from the source file. It
also lets you specify (map) the destination field for each
source field.
Note: The procedure does not import images such as
portraits and signatures. To import complete applicant
records (including text records and images) from other
ID-4000 stations, see
Importing text and images on page
5-18.
