Look-up tables
A look-up table uses data in one field to add data to one
or more other fields automatically. In the following
example, the operator enters the building code
(“Headquarters”) in the Location field. Using the building
code, the ID-4000 “looks up” the complete address of the
building and displays it in the four fields below the
location field.
Data entered from look-up tables (in this example, the
address, city, state and Zip code) cannot be edited by the
operator.
Field validation
Some fields in your data entry window may be set up for
validation. Field validation means that the ID-4000
accepts only certain values or types of data in a
particular field. If you enter an unacceptable value or if
you fail to enter anything in a field requiring a value, an
error message appears to inform you.
