Import file requirements
Text files to be imported into ID-4000 must meet these
specifications:
•
Each record must include the primary key field (usually
the employee ID number or a similar unique identifier)
used by the database.
•
Each record in the file must end with a hard return.
•
The file can contain only ASCII characters from
hexadecimal 20 through hexadecimal 7e (decimal 32
through decimal 126), carriage returns, line feeds and
horizontal tabs.
•
All records must have the same number of fields,
although there need not be a value in every field.
•
The fields in all records must be in the same order.
•
Fields can be either fixed-length or character-delimited.
Most word processing and database applications can
create files that meet these criteria.
