1: SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
LMV1000 (G)(E) AIR-COOLED LASER MARKER

Precautions for Handling
x
Appoint a safety supervisor for all laser work. The appointed safety supervisor must have sufficient
knowledge and experience regarding both lasers and laser work. The supervisor must control the
key switch of the laser marker, and must be responsible for instructing operators in safety aspects of
the laser marker as well as directing the laser marker work.
x
Establish and control a laser operation area. The responsible person must isolate the laser marker
operation area from other areas and control it by fences and display signs indicating that the area is
off-limits to unauthorized personnel.
x
Install the laser marker securely on a firm surface and use it in a level condition. If it is used
inclined or on its side, it may experience trouble.
To prevent distortion of marking, install the oscillator and workpiece on the same stand so that the
workpiece will not vibrate during the marking process.
Use a power supply of single-phase, 90–130V AC (50/60 Hz) having a capacity of at least 10 A or
180–260V AC (50/60 Hz) having a capacity of at least 5 A.
Be sure to apply grounding of Class D to the laser marker.
Use the laser marker in a location where the ambient temperature is between 5
q
C and 35
q
C and the
relative humidity is between 20% to 90%, non-condensing.
x
and where there are no sudden temperature fluctuations. Do not use the laser marker in the
following places:
Where there is considerable dirt, dust, or oil mist; where the laser marker may be subjected to
vibration or impact; where the laser marker may be exposed to chemicals; where there is a nearby
high-frequency noise source; or where moisture may be condensed on the surface of the laser
marker.
If the temperature changes quickly when a heater is turned on in the cold, moisture may condense
on the optical elements, and cause dust to stick on the elements. Accordingly, avoid changing the
temperature quickly. If condensation is likely to form, do not start operations immediately. Instead,
allow the Laser to stand for a while after turning on the power; then start operations.
x
If the outside of the laser marker is stained, wipe it with a dry or slightly moistened cloth. If it is
badly stained, use neutral detergent or alcohol to clean it. Do
not
use paint thinner, benzene, etc.
which can discolor or deform the parts.
x
Do
not
put screws, coins, etc. in the laser marker, since they can cause a malfunction.
x
Operate the switches and buttons carefully by hand. If they are operated roughly or with the tip of a
screwdriver, a pen, etc. they may become non-functional.
x
Operate one switch or button at a time. If two or more of them are operated simultaneously, the
laser marker may have trouble.
x
When a PC and the Operation Unit are connected to the Laser Marker, do
not
operate them
simultaneously.
x
Do
not
turn off the Main Power Switch while a PC and Control unit are connected to the laser
marker and data is being transferred.
