Reassembling and Checking the Source

Check the condition of all O rings. Replace them if necessary.

With the two springs in a horizontal plane, feed the hexapole transfer lens into
the instrument. Ensure that the O ring is correctly fitted to the differential
aperture plate, and that the assembly is pushed fully in.

Replace the ion block support, pushing it in against the springs of the ion tunnel
assembly.

Replace the three retaining screws.

Replace the restrictor and bush, complete with O ring and PTFE washer, on the
ion block.

Locate the ion block on the peek ion block support, and secure with the two
screws taking care not to over-tighten the screws.
