Assets
1. To the left of the Add Attribute button are two fields. Click on the arrow to the left of the first attribute field to
open a list of existing attributes. If the attribute you need already exists, select the attribute then enter the value
in the adjacent field. For example, if your organization uses Assets for multiple applications, a “Motor Usage”
attribute can be added along with the values that apply.
2. If the attribute you need is not found in the list, type the name of the new attribute directly in the first attribute
field.
NOTE: Be careful when creating new attributes so that you do not create a duplicate or near-duplicate
attribute. Refer to “Naming Attributes” below for more information on the issue.
3. Other examples might be Motor Status, Asset Color, Last Service Date, and Manufactured Date.
NOTE: Attributes assigned here are specific to the asset. They can include anything that adds value for
searching for an asset; however, they typically do not include attributes that are relative to
Installations .
Installations can also have attributes assigned as discussed later in this chapter. If you do not use
Installations, those types of attributes could add value by assigning them to assets.

The number of attributes that can be added is limited only by the practical application. Because attributes are used as
filtering parameters when using the Browse and Search mode tools, assigning specific attributes that will help narrow
the search is the more practical use of the feature.
If you need to remove an attribute for any reason, click on or touch the Delete Attribute button to the right of the
attribute to be deleted.
