mark the upper and lower ranges of the PD Threshold.
7. While continuing to hold the PTT button, take notice of where the white lines terminate and how far above the
threshold lines some extend. These are your first indicators of what the threshold value should be. For example, in
many cases, most of the white lines will reach or exceed the 1 mV threshold limits, and a fair number could be .5 or
1 mV above or below the threshold lines.
8. You should also notice that the number of PD Events reported is rather high, which at this point also suggests that
the threshold value is set too low.
9. Release the PTT button when you have sufficient information to make your first adjustment.

10. Using these observations, press the EDIT TEST CONFIGURATION icon then scroll down to the Surge Tests section and
change the PD Threshold value to something reflecting your observations. For this example, the majority of spikes
reached the 1 mV threshold lines and others reached 2 mV, so choosing a value 1.5–2.0 mV higher is a good next
step.
11. Save your changes then return to the Surge Test screen.
NOTE: If the Android navigation bar pops up on the bottom of the screen, click on the left Arrow to
remove it so you can see the full screen.
12. Press and hold the PTT button again and observe the spikes and how they appear with the new threshold. Also
take note of the number of PD Events indicated. If you are still seeing more than two or three occasional events,
release the PTT button and return to the test configuration to make fine adjustments.
13. If the number of test events indicated is still higher than expected, but you are satisfied with the noise level, increase
the Test Event Limit value by two more than the number indicated then re-check the results.
You can repeat this process until you have a satisfactory PD Threshold and PD Event Limit then move onto the next part
of the process to see how your settings perform during testing.
