Appendix B — Using the Android ™ Operating System

Android OS Basics

The ADX software runs on the Android™ operating system. While you should not need to use the OS features much,
acquainting yourself with them will help when you need to make adjustments, or if you want to use some of the
features (such as screen captures) to augment your test results.

Access the Android OS while the ADX software is running by clicking or pressing on the top middle of the screen. A
dialog similar to the one shown below will appear. The top section is the access point to the OS Settings.

Here, you will see several indicators including Wi-Fi connection status and battery life. Near the top edge, touch the
Settings (Gear) icon to go directly to the Android Settings screen.

Alternatively, you can EXIT the ADX software, which will bring you to the Android Home screen.

NOTE: While it is not always necessary to exit the ADX software before working in the Android OS,
in some cases you will need to stop and restart the ADX application for OS settings to take effect. At
the very least, be sure to complete any testing in process and save your data before leaving the ADX
application. Also, take necessary safety precautions to ensure that your device under test is powered
down before leaving the ADX software application.
