NOTE: To ensure that PD values are accurately detected, voltage ramping should occur at a controlled
rate—slowly increasing and decreasing. For this reason, we recommend conducting Surge with PD testing
in Automatic mode or as part of a sequence (Sequence Mode, Auto test) with a lower value for the
Voltage Ramp Rate.
As with all Surge testing, PD testing is conducted on each selected test lead. In the Surge Test screen, selected test
leads are indicated by the green light to the left of each LEAD button.
CAUTION: The red LEDs on the ADX front panel indicate when test leads are active and identify which
test lead is energized. Within the Surge screen, an indicator light above the LEAD buttons also flashes
when a test lead is energized.

Defining PD Parameters in the Active Test Configuration
Parameters for PD testing are defined in the test configuration assigned to the selected asset. The Surge section is
found near the bottom of the test configuration.
1. Surge Test must be enabled along with the leads that will be tested.
2. Define common Surge test parameters such as Target Voltage and EAR limits.
3. Set the Voltage Ramp Rate to a lower value to improve detection of the voltages associated with PD activity.
