Determine whether the disk drive or solid-state drive to be removed was replaced by a hot-spare
drive when it failed. Complete the following steps:

Go to the service action log. For instructions to access the service action log, see “Activating the
failing-part indicator light” on page 135

Determine whether an

xxxx9031

error was logged close to the same time as the original disk

failure. This error indicates that the data to the hot-spare drive was automatically rebuilt.

Determine whether an error was logged for the field-replaceable unit (FRU) by using concurrent
maintenance. If yes, continue with the next step.

Yes

: Continue with the next step.

Within the service action log, select the concurrent maintenance option. This option displays the
drive location on the concurrent maintenance display. Go to step 9 on page 43

From the Hardware Service Manager, navigate to

Select Device Concurrent Maintenance

option.

Press Enter. The Device Concurrent Maintenance display is shown, as shown in the following figure.
