2.5.2 Changing the Initialization
Change the print mode like other initial settings. See: 2.12, “Initializing the Printer.”
2.5.3 Print Modes
The print modes have the following features:
NLQ Mode
Ÿ
The 24 x 24 dot mode is used.
Ÿ
Same as the NLQ mode for the 5407/5417/5427 printers.
Ÿ
Printing speed is 360 LPM.
Ÿ
The NLQ lamp lights up when this mode is set.
Ÿ
This mode is set at shipment.
Copy Enhance Mode
Ÿ
Use when printing up to eight multipart form sheets.
Ÿ
The 24 x 24 dot character font mode is used.
Ÿ
The Copy Enhance lamp lights up when this mode is set.
This mode is further divided into five modes (3 for multi-form printing and 2
for uneven forms). These modes can be set during initialization. The
factory set default is Level 2.
3 Multi-part Form Modes
Level 1: Printing is enhanced. Print speed is the same as NLQ mode,
360 LPM. However, printing might become slower than 360 LPM
depending on the print pattern.
Level 2: This mode is the same as the copy enhance mode of the
5417 printer. Copy darkness is the same as Level 1. Print speed is
180 LPM, half of NLQ mode. Characters are darker than NLQ mode.
This mode is the setting at shipment.
Level 3: This mode prints double strike in Level 1. Copy becomes 1
sheet darker than Level 1 and Level 2. Print speed is 180 LPM, half of
NLQ mode. However, printing might become slower than 180 LPM
depending on the print pattern. This mode prints darker than NLQ
mode.
2 Uneven Form Modes
Level 4 (Uneven Form): This mode is for printing on forms that are
inconsistent in thickness such as forms on packages for delivery com-
panies. As with Level 1, printing is enhanced. Printing speed is 310
LPM, slower then NLQ mode. However, printing might become slower
than 310 LPM depending on the print pattern.
Level 5 (Uneven Forms Strong): This mode prints double strike in the
uneven forms mode (Level 4). Printing becomes 1 sheet stronger than
Level 4. Printing speed is 155 LMP, half of Level 4. However, printing
might become slower than 155 LPM depending on the print pattern.
This mode prints darker than NLQ mode.
