The following explains the IBM 5400-006 printer bar code print function.
Bar code types
The bar code types printable with the bar code print function are as follows:
CODE39
EAN reduction
EAN standard
Industrial 2 of 5
Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF)
NW-7 (CODABAR)

Notes on bar code printing
Specify a print format with the bar code print format specification command
before using the bar code print command. The print format specified with the
bar code print format specification command is valid until the power is turned
off or the next bar code print format specification command is specified.
After the bar code print command is executed, the current print position is not
changed vertically or horizontally. To print all bar code images, lines must be
fed (FF, LF, PP, or so) exceeding the bar code and HRI heights.
Up to 20 bar codes can be printed at the same time (assumed to be printed at
feeding of each line). This value is not affected by the bar code type, size, or
rotation.
The bar code print command must be specified at the head of a line. If print
data or ruled-line command is received before the bar code print command, the
bar code print command is ignored.
The origin (current position) of the bar code print position is specified with the
following commands:
LF,FF,IRS,PP
Confirm that the bar code reading rate with the bar code reader used is suffi-
cient.
In the forward printing that vertically prints a black bar, one-way printing is
better and the reading rate raises.
