The above considerations are described below. In the description below, character
decoration refers to enlargement, reduction, emphasis, or double strike printing.
C.4.1 About Level E Printers
Printers that can be used with all the control codes listed in C.1, “Control Code List”
are called level E printers.
The printer has a factory setting of level E, allowing it to be used without changing
the level. If your software is not ready for a level E printer, this printer can be used
with the level E function turned off. Normally, use this printer with the level E func-
tion turned on.
Notes:
1. For how to turn off the level E function, see 2.12, “Initializing the Printer.”
2. To use this printer with the level E function off, see C.4.3, “Character Layout”
on page C-24 or C.4.4, “Difference Between Line Pitch and Actual Line Pitch
Distance” on page C-27.
3. When using IBM OS/2 on the system connected to the printer, use the level E
function.
