Run
acquires data and displays the
most recent trace.
Run indicator
is displayed at the
right end of the status line when the
acquisition is running.
Sample period
is the interval at
which the input is sampled. The os-
cilloscope acquires data by sampling
the voltage on each input channel
and comparing it to the threshold
voltage to determine whether the in-
put was a logic high or logic low. The
acquisition mode, trigger functions,
delayed sweep, and measurement
functions depend on the sample pe-
riod. The sample period, in turn,
depends on the Time/Div setting.
Save
stores the current front-
panel setup to one of the Setup
memory locations. Memory selec-
tion is done with either a softkey or
the Entry knob.
Setup
allows access to the setup
memory and front-panel setup keys.
Setup memory
allows you to save
the current configuration of the in-
strument, including time base,
threshold, channel settings, measure-
ment definitions, and labels. You can
use these later to verify the results
of a change, or you can use them
regularly for testing and trou-
bleshooting. These memories are
non-volatile.
Single
(single shot) triggers once
when the trigger conditions are met.
The oscilloscope must be rearmed
before the oscilloscope retriggers by
pressing either the Run or Autostore
front-panel keys.
Single indicator
is shown as the
letters “Sngl” in the top line of the
display and indicates that the cur-
rent display was captured by
pressing the Single key (a single ac-
quisition was performed, then the
oscilloscope stopped).
Slope
selects either the rising or
falling edge of the signal to trigger
the oscilloscope.
Slope/Glitch
allows access to the
trigger slope, glitch, and TV trigger
condition controls.
Smoothing
is an oversampling
technique used when the digitizer
sampling rate (200 MSa/s) is faster
than the rate at which samples are
stored into memory. Smoothing pro-
duces a smooth trace on the screen.
