Computer/Manual switch S1

Computer

mode, the MSS control algorithms handle the movement of

the heads.

On the Termination Board, S1 switches between

mode, pushbuttons S2 and S3, or

SCAN/OFFSHEET

buttons control head movement.

Scan/Forward switch S2

S2 is the

SCAN/FORWARD

button on the Termination Board.

Computer

mode, pressing the

SCAN/FORWARD

button serves the

same function as the

SCAN

button on the tending end support (that is, it

instructs the MSS to begin normal scanning).

Manual

mode, pressing the

SCAN/FORWARD

button starts the

scanner moving toward the drive end support at a rate set by the speed
potentiometer on the Frame Controller PCB.

6.6.2.3.

Offsheet/Reverse switch S3

S3 is the

OFFSHEET/REVERSE

button on the Termination Board.

Computer

mode, pressing the

OFFSHEET/REVERSE

button serves the

same function as the

OFFSHEET

button on the tending end support (that

is, it instructs the MSS to stop scanning and move to the offsheet position).

Manual

mode, pressing the

OFFSHEET/REVERSE

button starts the

scanner moving toward the cable end support at a rate set by the speed
potentiometer on the Frame Controller PCB.

6.6.2.4.

Frame Controller switches

On the Frame Controller Board, there is a toggle switch that has a
Host/Shop mode position. When the switch is in the

Host

mode, scanner

movement is controlled by the host computer. When in the

Shop

mode,

scanner movement is controlled by the Frame Controller. The scan speed
in this mode depends on the adjustment of potentiometer R16 on the
Frame Controller.
