stand clear of the traversing heads.
5.2.4.5. Emergency stop switches
An Emergency Stop (or E-Stop) switch is located at each end of the scanner.
If this switch is pressed by an operator, the power to the motor controller
will be cut off and any sensor that employs mechanical activation will be
disabled. The server will indicate that the E-Stop switch has been pressed
and that the operator must release the switch and push the
OFFSHEET
button on the scan control panel on the end support to resume operation.
The E-Stop switch is released by pushing and turning it so that the knob
returns to the extended position.
5.3. End supports and operator controls
As shown in Figure 5-1, the horizontal beams are supported by the distant
end support and the cable end support. These supports also house the drive
motor, and a variety of electronics and switches that control scanner
functions and provide diagnostic information. The distant and cable end
supports, along with their associated operator controls, are described in the
following subsections.
5.3.1. Distant end support
Figure 5-5 shows the distant end support and its contents, including:
•
Scan control panel – provides operator (local) control of scanning
and sensor functions. Note that an optional alternate location for
the scan control panel exists on the cable end.
•
Shutter status satellite box – indicates whether the Basis Weight
and Ash sensor shutters are open or closed.
•
Emergency Stop switch.
