Setting up projector volume control
The MLC 52 can control the audio volume adjustment of the projector or plasma.
By default, the two buttons labeled VOL UP and VOL DWN are configured to
increase and decrease projector volume. When the
Use for VOLUME control
check box is selected, these two buttons control the projector’s volume. When
you press and hold one of these buttons, it issues its programmed command
(increasing or decreasing the volume) continuously until you release the button.
If you clear the
Use for VOLUME control
check box, these two buttons still
control projector volume, unless they were programmed with a volume table (see
the next section). However, if you press and hold them, they issue their
commands only once; i.e., they perform the same as if you pressed and released
them.
Types of volume control
Volume is controlled by one of two methods, depending on the type of projector:
Increment/decrement
— Only two commands are issued to the projector:
Increase Volume or Decrease Volume. If you press and hold a volume
control button, the projector increases or decreases the volume steadily until
you release it or it reaches its limit.
Volume table
— The volume level is set by issuing commands, each of which
correlates to a specific number in a “table” of values. For example, a
projector may have a volume table that ranges from 0 to 100. Therefore,
more than two commands are used to increase and decrease volume. Each
time the projector needs to adjust the volume, a command for a specific
number (value) must be sent to it.
If you press and hold a volume control button that has a table setup, the
volume increases or decreases in increments specified in the projector driver,
up to the limit imposed by the projector’s table.
If you deselect the
Use for VOLUME control
check box when the VOL
buttons contain tables, all volume control commands are removed .
Your projector’s method of issuing commands is communicated to the MLC by
specification in your projector driver, which you load to the MLC at setup. If your
projector uses a volume table, “(table)” is displayed on the volume buttons.
