Serial Communication, cont’d
MLC 52 Series MediaLink Controller • Serial Communication
5-8
In the upper-right corner of the screen is the Macro... button. Clicking this button
displays the MediaLink Macro Configuration window, which lets you link an
MLC button with another button, so that pressing the first button once executes
its commands, then those of the button to which it is linked.
Linking buttons via the MediaLink Macro Configuration tab is not the same
as placing the button in macro mode so that all the commands on that one
button are executed when you press it once. See
Setting up button macros
using macro mode
and
Linking buttons to create macros, in this
chapter,
for information on creating the two types of macros.
The following sections describe the tasks you can perform on the Controller
(MLC) Config. tab to configure the MLC 52 buttons.
Saving and restoring the configuration
Before downloading drivers or programming buttons, you may want to save the
MLC 52’s current configuration in case you want to restore those settings in the
future.
Saving a configuration
1
.
From the File menu, select Save CONFIGURATION as... .
File menu
The “Save Current MediaLink Configuration as...” window opens.
2
.
If necessary, browse to locate the folder in which you want to save your
configuration. (It is recommended that you save it in the MediaLink folder,
or in another directory where the file can be found easily.)
3
.
Make sure the Save as type field is set to
MediaLink Configs (*.MLK)
.
4
.
If desired, enter a name for the configuration in the File name field, in the
format
filename
.mlk. (By default, the configuration has the name of the
RS-232 driver on which it was based. To avoid confusion with the original
driver file, it is recommended that you give the configuration file a new
name.)
