MLC 52 Series MediaLink Controller • Serial Communication

Using the Help program

For information on program features, do one of the following to display the
context-sensitive MLC 52 online Help:

From the Help menu on the MLC 52 Configuration program screen, select
Contents.

          

•

Press the F1 computer key.

•

Double-click on the MediaLnk52.hlp file in the MediaLink52 folder on your
PC hard drive.

For explanations of buttons or functions, click on the tabs in the help screen to
reach the desired screen.  Use a mouse or the Tab and Enter keys to select a
button/function.  A description and tips on using the program will appear on
screen.

About Extron drivers

Extron drivers are control files (libraries) of Extron-created projector commands
that are specific to a particular projector.  When you install your MLC 52
configuration software, the installation program loads the Extron drivers onto
your PC, in the folder called MediaLink.  Before using the configuration software
to configure the MLC’s buttons, you must load the appropriate driver for your
projector or plasma display to the MLC 52.

 IR drivers are loaded via the MLC 52 Configuration program as part of the
process to program MLC buttons.  RS-232 drivers must be loaded/selected prior
to choosing RS-232 commands to program the buttons.  (See 

Loading Extron

drivers for RS-232 communication

, later in this chapter.)

The MLC 52 is compatible with IP Link IR drivers found on the IPL Driver
Package, version

or higher.  (See 

Viewing the IP Linkn IR package

, later in this chapter.)

Pre-configured control files (drivers) should be used whenever possible.  If
no driver is available for the display you want to control, it is possible to
create your own via IR Learning  (see 

Programming the MLC 52 Using

IR

, in chapter 3), or by entering the control command strings for your

projector on the Advanced Projector Configuration tab (see 

Using the

Advanced Projector Config. tab

, later in this chapter).  Command strings

can be obtained from the projector manufacturer.

CAUTION

Loading a new driver causes the MLC’s existing configuration to be
overwritten.  If you know that you will want to use the previous
configuration again, be sure to save it when the screen prompts you.
