STARTING OPERATION
Before operating the Forage Harvester, the power-take-
off (PTO) should run at the required speed e.g. 540 or
1000 RPM as the case may be in order to prevent any
material accumulation (clogging), breaking of the shear
bolts or slipping of the friction clutch.
The specified rotation speed (540 or 1000 RPM)should
be maintained all along the harvesting period. However it
is recoended to choose an adequate FORWARD ground
speed in order to properly synchronize the incoming of
material according to the forage density.
Following the first two hours of field operation, the oper-
ator should check the entire machine to make sure all
bolts are securely tightened and for any oil leak. Also,
make sure all wheel bolts are properly tightened.
Adequately sharpened knives and a correctly adjusted
shear bar will increase the efficiency of the Forage Har-
vester.
THE CONTROL BOX - FIGURE 128
The control box supplied with the Forage Harvester and
installed in the tractor allows the user to control the feed
rolls, spout rotation and spout deflector’s up and down
motion. Also, as an option, you can control the spot light
on the spout, the electrical unhook and the metal de-
tector.
EMERGENCY STOP - FIGURE 128
The emergency stop button allows the operator to in-
stantly stop the attachment as well as the feeding rolls.
However, this option is only available on Forage Har-
vesters equipped with a metal detector. The transmis-
sion is automatically shifted to neutral. A warning light
will be turned on along with a continuous alarm sound
that will stop as soon as the machine is re-initialized.
Follow the normal initialization procedure to restart the
machine.

SPOUT - FIGURE 129
Before activating the spout’s hydraulic controls, first
activate the tractor valve to which the spout hoses are
connected (grey and grey/red sleeves) in «continuous»
mode.
Operating the spout requires a low oil flow. Set the valve
flow rate between 2.5 and 3.5 gpm.
The spout is activated by a closed centre hydraulic
system compatible with either closed or opened circuit
tractors. When no functions are used, a valve bypasses
the oil flow directly to the tank, with no pressure loss.
This same valve manifolds the bypass when a function
is activated, allowing the use of more than one function
at a time.
The hydraulic circuit allows the oil to flow in one direction
only (pressure in the hose with the grey sleeve and re-
turn in hose with the grey/red sleeve).
The oil output necessary for each function is preset and
not adjustable by the operator. Consult your dealer in the
case of special applications for which different speeds
could be required for the rotation, lifting and deflector
movement of the spout.
Important! To ensure the effectiveness of the sys-
tem and avoid generating heat, set the hydraulic
flow between 2.5 and 3.5 gpm (9.5 and 12 L/min.)
