ASSEMBLING INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION: If the throat sides (item 14) of Hay or
Corn crop attachments are bent or damaged, it is
necessary to repair them so they will not come in
contact with the feed rolls.
5. When the attachment is set in place on the Forage
Harvester, put the square lock pins (item 10) and the
safety pins (items 11) back in place on both sides.
CAUTION: Always remove the pin (item 15 in Fig-
ure 21) which locks the lifting system before re-
suming the adjustments or operating in the fields.
6. Adjust balancing springs. The purpose of the balan-
cing springs is to counterbalance the weight of the
attachments either to slightly touch the ground or
ease the attachment hydraulic lifting to avoid pos-
sible obstacles in the field. Refer to page 117 for
balancing spring adjustment.
7. Install the Corn Row Crop attachment drive roller
chain (item 16), use the #80 X 35” lg chain with one
#80 connecting link.
8. Install the Hay Pick-up attachment drive roller chain
(item 17). Use #80 X 35” lg chains with one #80 con-
necting link and one #80 link (those parts are in the
tool box).
9. Adjust the Forage Harvester lifting arms (item 15,
figure 14) in operating position. Bring the driving
roller chain underneath the tightening sprocket (item
18, Figure 22). Move the sprocket (item 21) on the
shaft if necessary. Adjust the chain to a normal ten-
sion and tighten the nuts (item 19) of the tighteners
(item 18).
