OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
OPERATION TIPS
CAUTION: Before operating the Forage Harvest-
er, make sure that all safety precautions are ob-
served by people working with or near the ma-
chine. Refer to page 13 to page 16.
NOTE:
We generally suggest to be very careful and to
carry out all the necessary adjustments when put-
ting machine into operation.
BREAK-IN SPEED
WARNING: Before starting the tractor engine,
make sure all guards, shields, and doors are in
place and properly secured.
Operate the machine at half the normal speed for ap-
proximately five minutes in order for the bearings to take
up the loose and to make sure they don’t overheat. The
machine can then be operated at a normal speed for
a short period of time. If everything is satisfactory, the
machine is ready to be operated in the field.
BOLT TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
The table below gives the correct torque values for bolts
used on the machine. Check tightness of bolts periodic-

TRANSPORTATION ON PUBLIC ROADS
FIGURE 121 TO FIGURE 125
Always place the pole (item 1) in the transporting pos-
ition before entering a public road. Block the pole in
place with a locking pin (item 2) a the safety pin (item 6)
supplied with the machine.
CAUTION: Whenever a Forage Box or any other
equipment is hooked to a Forage Harvester
equipped with a manual or electrical quick-dis-
connect hitch (item 3), the quick pin (item 4)
should be put in place before entering a public
road or operating on hilly terrain. When this is
done, the ignition key of the electrical quick-dis-
connect hitch should be removed. Then, install
an appropriate safety chain to the towed machine.
CAUTION: Securely attach to towing unit. Use a
high-strength appropriately sized hitch pin with
a mechanical retainer and install a safety chain
with a minimum capacity of 20,000 lbs (9071 kg)
