ADJUSTMENTS - MAINTENANCE

TRANSMISSION BOX BELTS - FIGURE 183

The three drive belts (item 1) on the transmission box

are kept tight by a floating tightener (item 2). This tight-

en has a limited stroke. To avoid any slipping, a gap

of approximately 1/16” to 3/32” (1.5 to 2.5) should be

maintained between the spring coils. This adjustment is

made by tightening the stop nut (item 3).
The limitation gap bolt (item 4) must be adjusted so as to

leave a 1/8” (3) gap between the tightening arm and the

tip of the bolt (item 5).
To replace the three belts (item 1), refer to Figure 180:

To adjust shifting on the main transmission box:
1. Dismantle the rod (item 1) by removing the pins and

spacers (item 8) to free the cylinder (item 2).

2. Screw the bolt (item 3) completely. Rotate the trans-

mission sheave in a FORWARD motion so that the

speed shift arm (item 4) swings as much as pos-

sible towards the bolt head (item 3). When you hear

a ”CLICK” it means that the REVERSE position is

obtained.

3. Unscrew the bolt (item 3) and keep a 1/8” (3) clear-

ance with the back of the shift arm.

4. Lock the bolt in place with the self-locking nut (item

5).

5. To adjust the FORWARD speed, proceed as for the

REVERSE position using the bolt (item 6) until you

hear a ”CLICK”.

6. Swing the shift arm to the NEUTRAL position and

then bring the rod (item 6) back up by putting back

the pin and washers (item 8) as before.

7. Refer to page 162 for the detector positioning

sensor (item 7) adjustment.

WARNING: Make sure that all movements of parts

in the Forage Harvester has stopped before servi-

cing or repairing the machine.
