Fault Indication
If a fault condition is detected within the Lynx, the power LED will change from
blinking green to steady red after POST. If the fault condition is serious, the Lynx
power LED may continue to blink green beyond the normal power on time duration.
Correcting a Fault
Information on errors and fault conditions can be retrieved through the user interface.
Refer to
Viewing and Clearing Errors and Faults
on page 14 for retrieving and
clearing errors and fault.
If the Lynx signals a persistent fault condition, contact your local Technical Service
Center for service before operating the product.
Factory Reset Control
The factory reset button is located behind a small hole in the Lynx's bottom panel.
Both the Soft Reset and Factory Reset operations are initiated through the recessed
reset button.
Pressing the reset button will initiate one of the two reset operations, Factory Reset or
Soft Reset; the Lynx will acknowledge the button press with a brief flicker of the
POWER Led. Once the button press has been acknowledged, the length of time that
the button remains pressed will determine which reset operation that will be
performed.
Both reset operations will turn off the high voltage and abort any acquisition
currently in process. The Lynx will be rebooted similar to a power cycle. Spectral
data for PHA and MCS will not be affected, however any residual data from
Auxiliary Counters, SCA Counters, List and Time-Stamped List will be lost.
CAUTION
:
Performing a Factory Reset operation will reset all device
parameters to factory-default state, including all network
parameters. This means that any pre-established configurations
that relied on non-factory default network settings such as Genie
MID Configurations will not operate until the network parameters
are restored to their original settings.
During a reset operation the Lynx’s POWER Led is used to provide feedback to the
user. If the recessed reset button is pressed, then released immediately, the Lynx will
ignore the button press. The state of the POWER Led will not change.
When the recessed reset button is held pressed for more than 1 second the POWER
Led will flicker briefly to indicate that the press has been acknowledged; at this point
either a Soft Reset or a Factory Reset will be committed, depending on when the
button is released:
•
If the reset button is held pressed for 7 seconds or longer, a Soft Reset
operation will be performed. The POWER Led will blink green as the Lynx
re-initializes and switch to solid green when the Lynx is ready.
