Connect Your PC to the Lynx via USB
The Lynx USB communication interface requires Microsoft’s RNDIS transport
protocol. The supplied drivers are for 32-bit operating systems and will not load on
Windows 7/64-bit or Windows-10 systems. If/when Windows prompts you to install
the driver file, browse to the directory containing the RNDIS driver files from earlier
step. This may only be required by Windows 2000.
1.
Connect the USB cable from your PC to the Lynx. Plug-and-Play discovery
on your Windows PC should recognize the USB connection to the Lynx and
attempt to load the USB drivers automatically. If this is the first time a USB
Lynx connection was attempted on this PC, the automatic installation will
likely fail. When successful, the installation will create an adapter labeled
“DSA3K USB Remote NDIS” .
2.
Skip this step if the Lynx USB driver installation was successful. Depending
on the operating system, you may be asked to manually browse to the
location of the Lynx USB drivers; if so, direct the installer to the Lynx
support CD’s “USB” folder directory containing the Lynx/USB driver files
and proceed with the installation.
3.
Skip this step if the Lynx USB driver installation was successful. With the
Lynx still connected, activate the Device Manager on your PC and locate the
“Lynx Network Capable MCA” in the Device Manager listing, as shown
below:
a.
Select the Lynx device, right-click to activate the context menu, and then
select “Update Driver Software…”
b.
Select “Browse my computer for driver software” (actual text may vary
slightly between operating systems) and navigate to the Lynx support
CD’s “USB” folder directory containing the Lynx USB driver files, then
proceed with the installation.
