Lynx DSA User's Manual - 9240227J

This dialog provides access to settings specific to synchronizing multiple MCAs

when the acquisition mode is MSS, LIST, TLIST, or using Auxiliary and/or SCA

Counters The rear panel’s SYNC connector is used for external synchronization. The

SYNC connector accepts an input when the Lynx is configured as a slave, or

provides an output when the Lynx is configured as a master.

Status

Sets external synchronization to

Disabled

Enabled

, or

Independent

Disabled

disables the external synchronization logic. Signals present on the external SYNC

connector will be ignored by all acquisition units.

Enabled

enables the

synchronization logic and the SYNC connector becomes an input or output

depending on the selected Mode.

Independent

enables external synchronization and

allows independent control for SCA, Auxiliary counters, MSS, and List data

collection.

Modes

When external synchronization is enabled, the Lynx’s SYNC connector becomes an

output when

Master A

Master B

is selected, and an input when

Slave

is selected.

•

Master A

mode indicates that the external synchronization output will be

driven by the device. The pulse period is determined by the value of the

Pulse field.

•

Master B

mode indicates that the device will drive external synchronization

output. The pulse period is fixed at 1 µS.

•

Slave operation

- When the device has been set for Slave, an externally

generated sync pulse is expected at the rear panel’s SYNC BNC connector.

Polarity

Defines the polarity of the synchronization signal at the rear panel’s SYNC

connector.

Pulse (mS)

Defines the pulse duration of the

Master A

signal, in milliseconds, that the master

Lynx will output to other devices in the system.

Timeout (mS)

When a Lynx is configured as a

Slave

, the Timeout setting specifies the timeout

period within which an external sync pulse must be received at the rear panel’s

SYNC input if the external sync has been enabled. If the pulse is not received, the

Lynx will assert a timeout fault.
