On
This function allows you to turn the HVPS
On/Off
. When turned
On
(selected) the
high voltage output will ramp to the current Voltage setting at 100 volts/second
updated approximately every 60 milliseconds, and when turned
Off
(cleared) will
ramp to zero at the same rate.
The
Status & Fault
LEDs for HVPS will indicate
active
(green) when the high
voltage power supply is switched to
On
, and
inactive
(red) when the high voltage
power supply has been switched to
Off
.
The Front Panel’s
HV
indicator will indicate
active
(green) when the high voltage
power supply is switched to
On
, and
inactive
when the high voltage power supply has
been switched to
Off
and the output voltage has decayed to approximately 10% of full
scale. If a fault condition develops, the indicator will indicate red.
The
On
function must be manually re-selected to reactivate High Voltage output after
the Fault condition has been addressed.
WARNING
:
When turned Off, as the voltage output approaches zero, its
decay becomes exponential. This means that a residual
voltage may still be present at the SHV connector after the high
voltage power supply has been switched Off. To avoid shock,
use extreme care when connecting or disconnecting SHV
cables from the rear panel.
Range (V)
The HVPS Range selects the respective HVPS hardware within the Lynx. Range can
be set to 200 volts, 1500 volts, or 5000 volts. Setting the Range value will also set the
entry limit for the voltage value. The polarity of the output voltage is determined by
the Polarity setting.
The Range is typically the first setting to be selected; it can only be changed while
the high voltage power supply is off.
Please refer to the
High Voltage Power Connectors
on page 135 for the information
on the appropriate SHV output connector.
Limit (V)
The Voltage limit control establishes the HVPS’s maximum output voltage within the
selected range. The Voltage Limit setting must be established before the Voltage
control is adjusted.
Polarity
Sets the polarity of the output voltage as the selected range’s SHV connector located
on the rear panel. Please refer to the
High Voltage Power Connectors
on page 135 for
the information on the appropriate SHV output connector.
Polarity can only be changed while the high voltage power supply is off.
