Controlling MIDI Sustain and Modulation
Now, letÕs add a button inside our cluster that will turn on the sustain of
the MIDI track.
Now letÕs add a knob to control MIDI modulation.
1.
Click
in the StudioWare toolbar to select the Button tool.
2.
Click inside the cluster.
3.
Right-click on the new button, and choose
Properties.
4.
Enter Sustain in the Label field.
5.
Enter SUSTAIN in the Alias field.
6.
Make sure that the values in the Range fields are 0 for the
Minimum and 127 for the Maximum (the legal range for MIDI
controllers) and that the Initial value is set at 0.
7.
Choose Controller from the Kind list.
8.
Enter 64 in the Number field. This is the controller number for
Modulation in the General MIDI specification.
9.
Enter SUSTAIN in the Value field. This will link the controller
value to the value of the button.
10.
Check the Automate in Track option, and enter a track number in
the field.
11.
Click OK when you are done.
Note that you could have entered an alias for both the channel number
and track number fields, so that another widget in the panel could be
used to determine which channel or track would receive the controller
messages.

2.
Click inside the cluster.
3.
Right-click on the knob and choose
Properties.
4.
Enter Modulation In the Label field.
5.
Enter MODlevel in the Alias field.
