BYD M6 AUTO Owner’s Manual
Part Maintenance 7-8
When the engine is at the normal
operating temperature, turn if off and
check the oil level with a dipstick.
1. To get accurate reading, make
sure the vehicle is on level ground.
Wait for a few minutes so that the
oil has sufficient time to drain back
to the sump.
2. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it
clean with a cloth.
3. Reinsert the dipstick completely to
get the most accurate reading.
4. Pull out the dipstick and check the
oil level. Don't turn it upside down
to look at it. The oil level must fall
between the F line and L lines.
NOTICE
y
Prevent the oil from dripping on
any vehicle part.
Add Oil
If the oil level is below or slightly
above the L line, you must add oil of
the same specification to the engine.
Remove the oil filler cap to add oil.
Don't overfill oil. You can use a
funnel when adding oil.
For oil capacity of the vehicle, see
“Maintenance Specifications” in
Chapter 8.
After adding enough oil to get the oil
level in normal range, put back the
filler cap and tighten it manually.
