When the ABS operation is
completed, the brake pedal may
move forward slightly.
CAUTION
y
Don't get too close to the vehicle
in front of you. Even although
the ABS system can help you
maintain steering control, the
vehicle stability and steering
performance will deteriorate.
y
When you drive at high speed
on rainy days, if the tires’ driving
force exceeds the limit or if the
wheels are spinning, the ABS
system cannot help you control
the vehicle.
y
ABS cannot always reduce the
braking distance. Always leave
enough room up ahead to stop.
Under the following conditions, a
longer braking distance may be
required compared to a vehicle
without ABS:
y
In gravel, sand and deep snow;
y
When snow chains are mounted
on the tires;
y
On a stepped road, such as the
junction of roads;
y
On a rough road with pits or
uneven pavement.
y
All four tires must have the
specified size and tire pressure.
ABS monitors the rotational
speed of each wheel through a
speed sensor. Tires with
different size than the original
may affect the detection of
wheel speed and increase the
braking distance.
ABS Warning Indicator
When the ignition switch is at ON, this
indicator comes on. If the ABS system
and brake assist system are working
normally, it will go out in several
seconds. The indicator will come on if
an error occurs in the ABS system.
When the
warning indicator
stays on and the braking system
indicator remains off, the ABS system,
traction control system and
stabilization control system are not
working normally. However, the
