Emergency Handling 5-14

If the Vehicle Gets Stuck

If the vehicle gets stuck in snow, mud,
sand, etc., take the following
measures:

1. Turn off the engine. Apply the

parking brake and move the
selector lever to P gear.
As for a manual transmission, set it
to N gear;

2. Dig out any mud, snow, sand, etc.

around the stuck wheel.

3. Lay wood or stones before the

stuck wheel to add traction;

4. Start the engine again;
5. Set the selector lever to forward or

reverse gear, and drive carefully to
free the vehicle.

CAUTION

If you try to free the vehicle by

rocking it forward and backward,
make sure there is no person or
object nearby. During the
rocking, the vehicle may
suddenly move forward or
backward as it becomes
unstuck. Please handle with due
care.

NOTICE

To prevent damage to the
transmission or other parts, follow
the instructions below when rocking
the vehicle:

Do not press the accelerator

pedal while shifting the selector
lever or before the transmission
is completely shifted to forward
or reverse gear.

Don’t let the engine running at

high speed and avoid spinning
the wheels.

If the vehicle remains stuck after

rocking it for several times,
consider other ways such as
towing.
