Emergency Handling 5-16

Precautions on Towing

Use a safety chain system for any
towing, and abide by all applicable
laws and regulations. The wheels on
the ground and their axle must be in
good conditions. If the wheels or axle
are damaged, please use a tow dolly.

NOTICE

y

Don’t use a sling type tow truck,

either from the front or rear. This
may cause damage to the
vehicle body.

Emergency Towing

If towing is necessary, we recommend
you to have it done by a BYD service
station or a commercial tow truck
operator.

When professional towing service is
not available, you can attach a cable
or chain to the tow hook on the
chassis for temporary towing. Handle
the emergency towing with extreme
care.

To install the front tow hook, refer to
“Install Front Tow Hook” in this
chapter.

Only use the specified tow hook;

otherwise the vehicle may be
damaged.

Don’t tow the vehicle from the

rear side with all four wheels on
the ground. This may cause
severe damage to the
transmission.

In emergency towing, you must stay
in your vehicle to operate steering and
braking.

Your vehicle can only be towed in this
way for a short distance on solid road
surface. The wheels, powertrain,
steering wheel and brakes must be in
good conditions.
