Auxiliary sources will not precisely track the current of the Master (the Master current times
the value of R) at the lower values of current. Increase the voltage until the total load current
of the power system is equal to the maximum current of the Master power source. Use
R103
in each Auxiliary source to adjust the load current contributed by the Auxiliary source equal to
that of the Master source times the value of R for the individual Auxiliary power source.
10. Increase the voltage for the full-load current. Record the total and the amount of current
supplied by each source. Adjust
R103
if necessary to balance the currents. Remove the load
to check the load regulation.
Configurations with more than 2 XDS units.
Follow this procedure for each of the –AUX units in the parallel system configuration. For systems
with more than one –AUX unit, it may be necessary to adjust each unit in turn until they all share
within stated tolerances.
Example
The following is an example of the parallel adjustments of a 2-box power system:
Master power source:
XDS100-150
Auxiliary power source:
XDS100-100
In step 8, the value of R will be 0.6666
In step 8, when the total system current is 100 amps, the maximum current rating of the lowest power
source, the Auxiliary source must be adjusted with R103 to 40 amps at the same time the Master is
delivering 60 amps (60 x .6666 = 40 amps)
In step 9, R103 in the Auxiliary should be adjusted to 100 amps when the Master is delivering 150
amps.
