9.4 Optional IEEE Interface

The XDS Series can optionally be equipped with an IEEE-488 interface in addition to the standard
RS232C interface.

Figure 9-2: Rear Panel View

The IEEE address of the XDS DC Supply is set using the DIP-switch at the right side of the unit.
(When facing power supply from the front). The switch is located on the controller board (A1) and
visible through the side air intake openings. Switch position 4 through 0 corresponds to bits 4
through 0 of the IEEE address. The desired interface is selected by moving DIP-switch position 5 to
the correct mode. Only one interface can be active at a time.

Note:

Always turn off the power supply and disconnect AC input power when
changing this DIP setting. Use a non-metallic object to change switch
positions for the Address.

The above configuration would cause the unit to be in GPIB mode at address 10.

•

Listen only mode is not supported and this switch must be in the up position (Listen Only mode
OFF) to work properly.

Note: Switch setting changes do not take effect until power is cycled.
