3 General

The AQ-M255 motor protection IED is a member of the AQ-200 product line. The hardware and

software are modular: the hardware modules are assembled and configured according to the

application's I/O requirements and the software determines the available functions. This manual

describes the specific application of the AQ-M255 motor protection IED. For other AQ-200 series

products please consult their respective device manuals.

AQ-M255 offers a modular motor protection and control solution for motors with a large I/O capacity.

There are up to eleven (11) option card slots available for additional I/O or communication cards for

more comprehensive monitoring and control applications. AQ-M255 communicates using various

protocols including the IEC 61850 substation communication standard.
