Operation of Event Transmission Function
(1)
To transmit an event to a higher-level computer, etc. via a public line, follow these
steps.
1. Perform a line connection using the auto-dial function.
2. If the line connection is successful, transmit the event.
3. When transmission completes, disconnect the line.
If a modem is not connected, transmit the event directly since the concepts of line
connection and disconnection are irrelevant.
(2)
To transmit an event to a higher-level computer, besides the relays and registers
for the auto-dial function, you must also set the following relays and registers in
advance.
Data position number 45, 95
Write using the WRITE instruction.
Data position number
101-131 (228), 401-528
Write using the WRITE instruction.
Output relay Ylmm37/Ylmm53
Always on or always off.
Output relay Ylmm38/Ylmm54
Always on or always off.
(3) If connecting to a public line, perform a line connection in the same way as
described in the Auto-Dial Function section.
When the line is connected and input relay Xlmm05 (Connected) turns on, turn on
output relay Ylmm34 (Request to Transmit) using the SET P instruction on the rising
edge.
When transmission completes, input relay Xlmm02 (Transmit Completed) turns on.
Turn off output relay Ylmm34 (Request to Transmit) on the rising edge of input relay
Xlmm02 (Transmit Completed) using the RST P instruction.
Turning off output relay Ylmm34 (Request to Transmit) also turns off input relay
Xlmm02 (Transmit Completed).
After transmission completes, disconnect the line in the same way as described in
the section on Auto-Dial Function.
However, note the following when disconnecting the line.
When the number of data being transmitted is large, even if input relay Xlmm02
(Transmit Completed) turns on, there may still be data being transmitted on the line.
Turning on output relay Ylmm43 (Disconnect Line) when input relay Xlmm02
(Transmit Completed) is on may cause incorrect event transmission.
In the actual program, you should activate a timer when input relay Xlmm02
(Transmit Completed) turns on and turn on output relay Ylmm43 (Disconnect Line)
when the timer times out.
The WAIT value in line 650 of the BASIC sample program is set to 2 seconds for a
transmission data size of 32 bytes.
If the transmission data size is large, you should adjust this setting value by
experiment.
