(5) Command (3 characters)
This specifies the type of access (read, write etc.) to be performed on the PC Link
module from higher-level equipment (PC or display). Specify the command code
using three characters. For details, refer to the “Personal Computer Link
Command” manual (IM34M6P41-01E).
(6) Parameters
These include device name, number of points, data, etc. It varies with the
command used. Some commands do not require parameters.
(7) Checksum
Checksum can be added for data validation.
If checksum is enabled using the Data Format switch (see Figure B1.9) or the
software setting function (see Chapter B4), append a checksum to commands
before transmission from the higher-level equipment (PC, display, etc.). Moreover,
a checksum is automatically appended to the response transmitted from the FA-M3
to the high-level equipment. See the next section on how the checksum is
calculated.
(8) ETX
The ETX character (control code) identifies the end of text. Its ASCII code is “$03”
so the character cannot be entered directly from the keyboard. To enter the
character, hold the [Ctrl] key and press the [C] key (^C) in a terminal software
application or other software.
(9) CR (Ending Character)
The CR character (control code) identifies the end. Its ASCII code is “$0D”.
If the ending character is enabled using the Data Format switch (see Figure B1.9)
or using the software setting function (see Chapter B4), an ending character is
required.
Enable the ending character when receiving messages as character strings using
the LINE INPUT command in BASIC or when connected to a display, etc.
